Flash CyanogenMod 10.1 M-Series ROM for Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 GSM

Installing the CM10.1 M1 build for Samsung Galaxy Tab2 10.1 GSM edition is easy and you can do it by following the instructions that I have listed in this post. Make sure to read the entire post that I’ve listed below and you shouldn’t have any problems completing the installation.
The CM 10.1 M1 is the first milestone of the Nightly builds, and it should be much more stable than those nightlies. It is based on the Android 4.2.1 which means that it comes with all the Jelly Bean new features and functions. It is a ROM that can be installed over any Android 4.1.x / 4.2.x Jelly Bean versions and it gets rid of all the bloatware from your phone besides the fact that it install the most popular custom Android OS, which is the CyanogenMod 10.1.
In order to correctly flash this installation you will first have to read the preparation guide below:

  • It is a guide that will work only with the GSM version of Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 model number p5100.
  • Install the custom ROM only if your device is rooted and running a custom Recovery mode such as ClockworkMod. If your tablet doesn’t meet these requirements then you will have to return to this post when the tablet is rooted and CWM Recovery installed.
  • Backup all your important data by moving it on to your device’s internal SDcard or directly to your computer. Also, you can choose to store it using ‘cloud’ services such as dropbox, mediafire, box, drive etc.
  • Create a full ROM backup using the CWM Recovery mode. This will be your device’s restore point in case something doesn’t go as planned and you brick the tablet. The chances for that happening are very slim but you should take the worst scenario into consideration. NOTE: If you already run a custom ROM that is based on CM 10.1 then you can install the M1 build over it without wiping data or creating backups.
  • This is a guide for advanced users, but if you carefully follow the instructions then you should complete the install even if you’re a novice.
  • Enable USB debugging option.
  • Charge the tablet’s battery until its power level reaches at least 50% so that the device won’t power off during the installation.
  • We cannot be blamed in case something goes wrong and you lose data or you brick the phone.
  • Read all the info and only when you’re sure that you can complete the install you should get to the tutorial guide.
  • Make sure that you won’t skip any instructions that I have listed below.
These were the guidelines you had to go over before moving to the interesting part of this post. If you can’t complete the install, then you should ask for extra help in comments.

These were all the steps that you had to complete in order to get the official build of CM 10.1 M1  ROM on your tablet.
NOTE: In case the first boot process takes over 10 minutes or your device has entered a boot loop, then you will have to power off the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 completely. After that you will be forced to repeat the entire tutorial starting with step 4 and the second time the ROM should install successfully.
If you have any other questions, then you should post them in our comments section and we will try to come up with a solution for all your problems.
If you don’t like this new ROM, then you can use the CWM Recovery and then restore the NANDROID backup of the previous ROM.
