The Android 4.1.2 XXDMF2 firmware has been pushed out for the Galaxy
Note 2 LTE device. Now, users who want to apply root in order to start
customizing the OS can use this tutorial to learn how to do it without
bricking their phablet.
For the root to complete with success you will first have to take a look at the preparation guide below:
- Use this tutorial only with the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 LTE model number N7105. Don’t try to root any other device with the files you find here.
- Download and install the Samsung USB Drivers on your computer from here.
- Make sure to backup all your most important files that are currently stored on your device.
- Enable USB Debugging option from Developer Options menu. This will allow your device to be recognized by Odin, the app that you’ll use to apply root.
- Disable / uninstall the Samsung KIES software from your computer, as it will interfere with the rooting process.
- Also, disable all antivirus and security programs currently running on your PC.
- Check the phone’s battery power levels and make sure that they are over 50%. This will prevent the device from switching off before you complete the root.
- This is a guide for advanced users, don’t try to root your Galaxy Note 2 LTE in case you’re a beginner.
- Note that we cannot be blamed if you brick the phone or lose any important data in the process.
How to root Samsung Galaxy Note 2 LTE N7105 on Android 4.1.2 XXDMF2 Jelly Bean:
- Download the CF-Auto-Root zip for N7105XXDMF2 firmware from here.
- After the download is complete, extract the zip archive and save the obtained ‘.tar.md5′ file on your PC without extracting any further than that.
- Next, download Odin3 v3.07 from here.
- this is the tool you’ll use to apply root.
- extract the Odin zip and save its contents on your PC. - Now, power off your Galaxy Note 2 LTE completely.
- Boot the device into Android Download Mode using Volume Down, Home and Power buttons combination.
- Launch ODIN exe on your computer.
- Connect your device with your PC via USB cable.
- Odin will detect the phone.
- if the phone is not detected, then you should try to use another USB port or re-install the Samsung USB Drivers (download links is listed in the preparation guide above). - Next, in ODIN click on the PDA button.
- Find the “CF-Auto-Root-t0lte-t0ltexx-gtn7105.tar.md5″ file. Load it into ODIN.
- make sure that the Re-Partition option is not enabled.
- don’t change any other default settings. - Hit the start button when you’re ready to start the rooting process of your Galaxy Note 2 N7105 smartphone.
- When the root is complete, the device will reboot and you can unplug it from computer after you see the Samsung boot animation screen.
- Wait for the device to boot into normal mode.
- Open the Google Play Store and search for the Root Checker Basic tool (here). Install this app on your device, then launch it and verify root access.
- this tool will tell you that the root was applied successfully. - Now that the root has been completed you can start looking for custom ROMs and other customization files to improve your Jelly Bean experience.
