This guide can be easily to perform even though we are not dealing with a one-click root solution, but more about that a little bit later.
If you rather choose to apply a one click root solution for your Galaxy Note 2, then use our suitable tutorial; also you can follow and complete a general root operation that can be applied for almost all the Android based devices out there. Anyhow, for ensuring that the XXDMC3 system will be properly unchained, then you should complete this guide as it has been developed especially for the mentioned ROM (by those of xda-developers so we have them to thanks).
The Jelly Bean XXDMC3 software is the latest official update released by Samsung for the Note 2 N7100. The ROM is actually a small OS improvement as it brings only minor bug fixes, thought the XXDMC3 system is the most stable platform by far. If you haven’t flashed the OS until now, then you can learn how to do that by following our “Update Galaxy Note 2 N7100 to official Jelly Bean 4.1.2 XXDMC3 OS” tutorial. Of course, after that return here and also learn how to root your handset.
In case you are wondering for the present root method, we will use Odin. Therefore, you have nothing to worry about as we are about to flash a rooted firmware on your phone. But before starting the rooting operation, you first have to prepare your Note 2. Because of that, begin by completing the lines from below. Don’t skip them as you can end up in bricking your smartphone.
Backup the phablet data or else you might end up in losing all of your personal saves. Usually, when using Odin, your data should be in safe hands, but in rare cases you will have to wipe the system in order to make things work. Therefore, why to risk it? Just, take a few minutes, go to Google Play store and download backup and restore apps for saving the text messages, call logs, EFS folder, market apps, contacts list and everything else you need.
After saving your personal info you will have to ensure that you can use a Windows running computer, your phablet and its USB cord. On the computer you will download and istall Odin along with other required files and programs. Then, in order to avoid the unpleasant situations it is recommended to: uninstall the security programs (like antivirus, or Firewall protection) from your computer and Galaxy Note 2; charge the battery of your device if you notice that there is less than 60% power left. Finally, enable the USB debugging option on your handset by going to “Settings -> Applications -> Development -> USB debugging”.
It is important to know that once you start the below procedure, the Galaxy Note 2 warranty will get void. Unfortunately this is happening each time you are rooting your device, because the factory restrictions will be removed and the internal system unchained. That’s why, after gaining root access, you can access the system, the OS, remove in built programs, install custom apps, update with custom ROMs and so on. Don’t worry though as the warranty can be restore; all you have to do is to downgrade / update to stock / official Android OS.
This step by step guide is compatible only with the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 N7100 that runs on official Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean XXDMC3 OS. So, don’t try to root a similar handset by using this tutorial because you will risk in bricking it.
